I Love Synchronized Nap Times

I was just thinking about how lucky I am that both of my boys nap at the same time every day. I realize that I am lucky that Jackson still takes a nap, and a good long-ish nap at that. I realize that there are many two year olds out there that have given up on the whole napping thing, or have decided that a small power nap is all they need. Lucky for me Jackson continues to realize the beauty that comes from taking a nap, or just sleeping a lot for that matter. Jackson sleeps between 12 and 13 hours a night and will take anywhere from a 1 1/2 to 3 hour (usually it is about 2 hours) nap during the day. I have several friends who jealously refer to him as the super sleeper.

Graham has had his hick ups along the way to sleeping perfection, and still has a way to go, but he is making great progress. He is now sleeping through the night more nights than not. We put him down around 7:30pm, I wake him up and he gets a "midnight" snack around 9:30 or 10pm, and then he usually sleeps to 6 or 7am. He often wakes up between the 4 and 5am hour, but is easily soothed back to sleep when we pull him away from the side of the crib he has scooted himself up against and pat him on the back. Again, he isn't perfect at it, but he is on his way there.

I did put in a little effort to try and get Graham's napping schedule to coordinate with Jackson's, but it seems unfair as to how little effort it actually took. Graham takes about three naps a day (more if I am running errands or he is in the stroller or car seat for longer than ten minutes). He will take a power nap about an hour and a half after he wakes up in the morning, a two to three hour nap at the SAME time as Jackson (most days) in the afternoon, and then another power nap just before dinner time.

I realize that not all moms are lucky enough to have such amazing sleepers as me, and definitely not a lot can say their kids nap at the same time. I sure do wish I knew what I did to bring this about so I could pass the secret on. I just hit the 2 1/2 hour mark for the boys' naps and I am just beginning to hear some stirring from Graham. It is so nice to have had this chunk of time to myself to get things done and have some relaxing time. I know that this probably won't last much longer (knock on wood), so I wanted to take some time to appreciate its' greatness. I love synchronized nap times!
